Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies offers a wide range of anaerobic technologies for the treatment of sludge and liquid effluents :
A wide range of Anaerobic Technologies
1. Anaerobic treatment solutions for industrial effluents:
1.1 Low to medium concentrations of suspended solids (SS):
- Anaerobic filter: using biomass fixed to a support media (usually plastic), with upward or downward percolation and operating at load capacities of 5-15 kg COD/m3.d; hybrid processes, combining anaerobic filter on the upper part and a sludge bed at the bottom, are available;
- UASB reactors, based on the sludge granulation concept, are high loading rate reactors. Operating at 10-15 kg COD/m3.d, they are compact and they use three-phase separator technologies for optimal separation of the produced biogas, the clarified effluent and the sludge;
- EGSB reactors, also based on an expanded bed of granulated sludge, are very high loading rates, operating at up to 30 kg COD/m3.d. Extremely compact, they use differentiating innovations such as internal circulation by gas lift and/or a high-tech three phase separator;
1.2 High concentrations of SS:
- CSTR* (Contact process) operating at up to 5 kg COD/m3/d. A completely mixed anaerobic reactor followed by a clarifier to separate and recirculate the biomass. Used for high concentrate waste streams or those containing high concentrations of suspended solids, fats, oil and grease.
