Tubular Backpulse Filter

The filter is a vertical vessel with a conical lower head for solids to accumulate. The membrane tubes are installed in a tube sheet to resemble a candle filter. The membranes can be teflon coated polymeric, HDPE or other varieties of materials.

The cleaning is performed using air for backpulsing at 5-50 PSIG depending on the membrane used and the solids settle in the lower head. After a number of cycles that last a few seconds, the solids are purged from the lower cone by flushing. The filters are made of a variety of materials ranging from coated carbon steel to Titanium.

Summary

The Auto-Pulse™ is a Tubular Backpulse Filter designed to accomplish submicron filtration without the use of precoats or filter aids. This makes it possible for small amounts of product to be recovered from waste streams and returned to the process stream without contamination. The Auto-Pulse™ is less expensive and easier to operate than other designs.

Teflon™ is a registered trademark of DuPont.
